World Cup Final Prediction: Sunday July 11th: 7.30pm 2010: 

So here we are. After 61 games we have the final between “Holland” & “Spain”. Both sides have never won the World cup so there will now be a new name on the winners list. 

I have predicted 61 games in this world cup & here is a breakdown of how my predictions have gone.

Matches Predicted:  61

Correct Prediction Results:  30

Correct Scorelines: 4

As you can see my success rate at correct results is 50% or 49% if you are mean. Hopefully with me getting the final correct it will be dead on 50% which after a bad start when it was around 20% after the first week is better. I will leave it to you as to wether you think my rate is ok or not? My Premiership record last season was 57% (I think) so it is not as good as the Premiership but there has been obviously less games I have predicted. 

This world cup has produced some major shocks & the fact that both sides in the final have never won the World cup before says a lot. This is my last article until the start of the English Premiership season begins when I will produce my Predictions for the all English Divisions as I have done the previous two years. Until then enjoy Sunday’s game & the rest of the Pre season & see you all in August. Only six weeks away. You lucky people. 

 

Match 62: World Cup Final: Spain – Holland: (Sunday 7.30pm): 

Spain are appearing in their first World Cup final after winning their first ever World cup Semi final 1-0 against Germany on Wednesday Night. I must admit that I do like the way the Spanish play & they did very well in the second half to restrict the Germans to hardly any chances. They did this by simply keeping the ball & passing really well, something they have done more or less the entire tournament. The Germans will have been gutted by losing out at the Semi final stage after surprising everyone with their attacking free flowing football but as they are a young side their time should come again. We will see. The Spanish of course lost their first group game 1-0 to Switzerland but have recovered to win every game since. The Dutch in contrast are undefeated winning every game including of course their semi final victory over Uruguay 3-2. Two second half goals were enough for them to beat the last team from South America. Uruguay did really well to reach the semi finals for the first time since 1950 & they should hold their heads up high at reaching the semi finals. Holland have of course appeared in the World cup final twice before in 1974 & 1978 & I don’t suppose they will be too keen on making it a hat trick of final defeats but alas I fear that Is what is going to happen to them as I can’t see how they are going to beat Spain unless the Spanish have an off day & fail to take the chances that their football will create. This will be a shame for the Dutch for the reasons mentioned above but football as many people have said before can be a very cruel game. Just ask Spain as they had amazingly never even reached a semi final before this World cup. A Spanish win then & a result that will be reward for their fine football.
