Several folks made a World Cup bet at the online sportsbook on Germany last Friday as they competed with Serbia in the 2nd competition for both squads in Group D.
Germany routed Australia in World Cup gambling, looking quite impressive in their opener, while Serbia lost a difficult match to Ghana. Serbia genuinely needs to win to stay alive in Group D at the online sportsbooks. Here’s a look at the match.
Germany was a 1-goal fave in this game on Friday that was shown on ESPN. The 3-way line had Germany at -180, Serbia at +475 and the Draw at +275 with the total at 2.5 under. Germany played very well in their starter despite the fact that they were devoid of Michael Ballack who will miss the World Cup due to injury. Germany has reached the semifinals 11 times and made the finals seven times, so they know how to win in the World Cup.
Serbia needed to come out of this match with something if they hoped to have any possibility of moving on. They needed to get at least a tie versus Germany since they already lost to Ghana or their odds of progressing would probably be gone. Serbia is not a terrible squad as they’re ranked 15th on the planet but following the loss against Ghana they needed to get something out of the Germany match. The Germany squad is well balanced and directed by Phil Lahm, Lukas Podolski and Bastian Schweinsteiger. It wouldn’t be simple to defeat this squad.
This was the game that Serbia had been waiting for and they surely produced results. Serbia could actually have been looking in advance to this match and not as concentrated as they should have been on Ghana. Germany could be contained by Serbia’s defense. Serbia has Nemanja Vidic, Branislav Ivanovic, Aleksandar Lukovic and Aleksandar Kolarov. Serbia had to contain Podolski and Miroslav Klose if they wanted to win. Serbia is conscious that they must play very well to beat a German squad that is rather skilled.
And not only did they manage to hold the German team down, they won. After the Germans defeated Australia in a dramatic 4-1 score, supporters were announcing that Germany was going to destroy the competition from then out. But Serbia just couldn’t afford to let that transpire. And possibly Germany was feeling a little too cocky after their win and Serbia’s loss. Either way, the Serbian squad was very stubborn and tenacious and Germany simply failed to rally sufficiently. Serbia, who scored their winning point 35 minutes into the game, won in a 1-0 win. The game was full of yellow cards and puzzling judgements from the Spanish referee, Alberto Undiano Mallenco, and that practically certainly played no minor part in affecting the outcome of the match as well.
As a lot of the matches in the World Cup have been, this game was aired on ESPN but keep in mind it started very early on Friday morning at 7:30 AM Eastern time. It was most likely worth seeing though as Serbia is in must-win mode against a very talented Germany team that is expected to win Group D.
My goal here is to talk about not only the game of soccer itself but also getting in shape for the soccer season.
