Liverpool versus Chelsea EPL Sunday November 7

This Sunday brings a cracker of an Premier League game, as Liverpool heads to Anfield for a significant contest against Chelsea. As these are two of the largest soccer clubs on the earth, the thrill will be extremely high. Not only will this be an particularly fascinating football match, but it will also offer many opportunities for well-informed sports bettors to participate in some informed fantasy betting.

Everyone that is showing an interest in fantasy betting on this game between Liverpool and Chelsea should keep the following stats in mind when walking to the betting window. Liverpool’s Frank Lampard has scored goals in three of the previous 5 games he has played in Anfield versus Chelsea. Liverpool’s key player, Fernando Torres, has scored 4 times in four trips to battle Chelsea at Anfield. Liverpool was not able to score a goal this year that wasn’t scored or assisted by the two megastars, Lampard and Torres.

On the other side of the pitch, Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, has scored 5 times in his last five games against Liverpool. Chelsea goalkeeper, Pete Cech, leads the Premier League with a saves-to-shots ratio of 91.7% this year.

For those interested in match betting, there are also a range of fascinating stats at which to consider. Chelsea has only allowed one goal from inside of the penalty box this entire football season. Liverpool has recently been a quite poor first half squad and a very strong second half team this year. Nine of the 10 goals they have scored this soccer season have been in the 2nd half of their games. Chelsea has been rock steady on the defensive half of the pitch, as they have kept a clean sheet in seven matches this football season. That is three more clean sheets than any other squad in the England Premier League.

Prediction(s) of the week:

“Spurs beating Wolves by the correct score & Manchester City ending their winless streak by winning at Wigan”

Hello everyone. Another good week last weekend for correct scores as I correctly predicted the correct score for Spurs beating Wolves. This was the third week in a row that I have had a correct score & makes up for the disappointment of again only getting 4 out of 10 in correct results. It could have been worse as I only managed 1 out of 7 in correct results on the Saturday due to a lot of draws but improved on the Sunday with all three correct predictions. They were Manchester United beating Liverpool, Manchester City winning at Wigan & Chelsea beating Blackpool. This means my average is only 40% at present but I am confident it will rise to last seasons 57%.

There are some difficult games to predict this weekend & so let’s hope for some good predictions coming through. Good luck & see you all next weekend.

Next week I will give a full analysis of the attendance predictions to see how I have been doing.

Match 1: Manchester City – Chelsea: (Saturday September 25th: 12.45pm):

City won only their second game of the season by beating Wigan away 2-0 last Sunday as I predicted. They now face a very difficult game in Chelsea at home. Chelsea will be very difficult for City because as everybody knows they are on fire at present. Their start to the season has seen them win all five games as well as scoring 21 goals & conceding only the one. Obviously they are top of the table.

Chelsea somehow lost at home to Newcastle in the League cup on Tuesday 4-3. The League cup was the lowest trophy on Chelsea’s list & so I don’t think they will be too bothered about going out.

Last season Chelsea lost this fixture 2-1 but in the end it didn’t stop them winning the title. City also won at Stamford bridge 4-2 last season to achieve a league double. That 4-2 victory for City was Chelsea’s only home defeat in the league last season & it goes without saying that they will be looking for revenge. I think they will get it as City have had a mixed start to the season. They beat Liver pool at home but could only draw with Blackburn in their last home game.

I think Chelsea will win this game which could put more pressure on city’s manager but only from the media (God bless them).

Result Prediction: Chelsea to win
Score Prediction: Manchester City 1 Chelsea 2
Attendance Prediction: 44,000

Match 2: Arsenal – WBA: (Saturday September 25th: 3pm):

Arsenal should have won at Sunderland last Saturday. They were 1-0 up & then missed a penalty & then conceded a goal in the 95th minute. They simply should have had the match won by then. A shame for me as I predicted they would win. Oh well, such is the life of a Football (so called) expert predicting results.

With Chelsea & Manchester United both winning they have lost two points against both their rivals. To me it is another example of why Arsenal won’t win the title. All credit to Sunderland though for fighting to the last & getting their goal so late on even if the referee decided to add the extra minute or so for them to get their goal. Luck evens it self out & Arsenal should remember that they gained a last minute own goal to get a 1-1 draw at Anfield against Liverpool as well as the very harsh sending off of a Blackpool player in their first home game.

WBA managed a very good morale boosting win against Birmingham last weekend by coming from behind at half time to win 3-1. I was slightly pissed off as I very nearly went for a WBA win when I was writing my prediction. WBA have yet to gain a point away this season after losing at Chelsea 6-0 at Liverpool 1-0. They might manage to score a goal at Arsenal as Arsenal don’t have a particularly good defence but it is going forward that Arsenal are good. A home win then but It might not be easy.

Result Prediction: Arsenal to win
Score Prediction: Arsenal 3 WBA 1
Attendance Prediction: 60,000

Match 3: Birmingham – Wigan: (Saturday September 25th: 3pm):

Birmingham will be kicking themselves after losing at WBA last Saturday. They were completely in control at half time leading 1-0 & then somehow conceded three goals after the break in quick succession to lose 3-1. This was their first defeat of the season after they had beaten Blackburn at home & drawn at Sunderland & Bolton & of course drawn at home with Liverpool in their last home game. I am confident that they will bounce back against a Wigan side who are already in a relegation battle having only won 1 game (at Spurs) & gained just one other point in a 1-1 home draw against Sunderland.

I think Wigan will struggle to stay up this season & will in the end fail. As already mentioned they have only won one game & that was an amazing win at Spurs 1-0. They received right hammerings at home to Chelsea 6-0 & Blackpool 4-0 on the opening day, so it doesn’t bear well for the rest of the season.

Birmingham are unbeaten at home since September of last season which is a great run. They have managed to draw with Liverpool twice in that run as well as draws against Arsenal, Manchester United & Chelsea.

A home win then & more problems for Wigan.

Result Prediction: Birmingham to win
Score Prediction: Birmingham 2 Wigan 0
Attendance Prediction: 23,000

Match 4: Blackpool – Blackburn: (Saturday September 25th: 3pm):

Blackpool lost at Chelsea last Sunday as me & everybody else with an interest in football predicted. However, they did recover from 4-0 down at half time to keep the score blank in the second half which says a lot about the way their manager has them playing for him & the club.

Blackpool have only played one home game so far & that was a 2-2 home draw against Fulham when they were pegged back late by a Fulham goal. They have managed to win twice away from home at Wigan & Newcastle. This means that at present they are punching above their weight & should continue against Blackburn but it should be a close game as Blackburn got a very good away point in a 1-1 draw at Manchester City in their last away game. This was their first point away after losing at Blackburn in their other away game.

Blackburn should stay up reasonably easily but I fear that Blackpool will go down but not after a great fight to prevent me & everybody else from being proved right.

A close home game win then.

Result Prediction: Blackpool to win
Score Prediction: Blackpool 2 Blackburn 1
Attendance Prediction: 17,000

Match 5: Fulham – Everton: (Saturday September 25th: 3pm):

Fulham are proving hard to beat this season. They are unbeaten under Mark Hughes & continued their good start to the season by drawing 1-1 at Blackburn last Saturday despite being 1-0 down to a very dubious Blackburn goal when the goalkeeper was obviously fouled.

Fulham have only beaten Wolves but they have drawn at home with Manchester United when they came from behind twice & also drawn at Blackpool, Bolton & of course Blackburn last Saturday. Maybe they should play all sides whose names begin with “B”.

Everton are struggling big time which is surprising me & everybody else. They lost again last Saturday, this time at home to Newcastle 1-0. They did not play well.

Everton have yet to win & are second from bottom. They have only managed two points & they were at home to Wolves & Manchester United when they somehow came from behind to draw 3-3 the other week. They have lost at Aston Villa & Blackburn in their two other away games & I am afraid to say that I can see them losing this game as well.

When will their bad run stop?

Result Prediction: Fulham to win
Score Prediction: Fulham 2 Everton 0
Attendance Prediction: 25,000

Match 6: Liverpool – Sunderland: (Saturday September 25th: 3pm):

Liverpool are in trouble. This is a massive understatement after they were knocked out of the League cup at home by 4th Division Northampton Town in midweek. Liverpool did play a weakened side but that only showed how little depth the Liverpool squad has. I think it us unfair to blame the current Liverpool manager as he has obviously inherited a right bloody mess from his predecessor. The financial & ownership problems also come into play & it can only benefit Liverpool if their American owners would just piss off.

Liverpool have only won one league game so far & that was a 1-0 home victory at home to WBA. They lost their last game 3-2 away at Manchester United. They are in real danger of ending up in mid table boredom come the end of the season.

They now play a Sunderland side who have started reasonably well this season. They have only won game like Liverpool but that was against Manchester City & they have also drawn against Wigan away & Birmingham & Arsenal at home. Last weekends draw must have felt like a win to them after scoring so late in the game to gain a 1-1 draw.

Despite this, Sunderland’s away form is still bad as it was last season. I think that Liverpool will win this game as they will be playing their first team who are still better than the likes of Sunderland when it comes to home games. Away is a different matter as was proved by their 1-0 defeat last season at Sunderland to a beach ball thrown onto the pitch by a Liverpool fan.

A home win then but still a long hard season for Liverpool.

Result Prediction: Liverpool to win
Score Prediction: Liverpool 2 Sunderland 0
Attendance Prediction: 44,000

Match 7: West Ham – Spurs: (Saturday September 25th: 3pm):

West Ham managed a point at last when they drew at Stoke 1-1. They are still bottom & to be honest I think they are going to go down. Last season Spurs came from behind to win this fixture 2-1 & I can see a similar result this time out.

Spurs have started ok so far this season beat Wolves 3-1 last Saturday. This was their second win of the season. Their other victory was a 2-1 win at Stoke. They have managed draws against Manchester City at home & away at West Brom. However, in the week Spurs crashed out of the League cup 4-1 at home to arch rivals Arsenal. Arsenal as everybody knows play their second 11 in League cup games & it was a very impressive win against Spurs & I should know as I watched the game down the pub in a very messy drinking session. Still had the hangover two days later. Will Spurs have a hangover as well?

West ham have to win at some point but I don’t think it will be this game. Spurs are in action next midweek in their second Champions League game & those games & their interest in that competition is why they won’t finish in the top four again this season.

An away win & how long is West Ham’s manager going to last?

Result Prediction: Spurs to win
Score Prediction: West Ham 1 Spurs 2
Attendance Prediction: 36,000

Match 8: Bolton – Manchester United: (Sunday September 26th: 12pm):

Bolton have had a good start & have only lost the one game, that being at Arsenal two weeks ago. They drew at Aston Villa last Saturday coming from behind to draw 1-1. At home they have drawn with Fulham 0-0 & Birmingham 2-2.

I know that Manchester United have four points away from home in their draws at Fulham & Everton but I really can’t see them dropping points in this game. They won this fixture last season & in fact I can’t remember the last time Bolton got a result against Manchester United. Bolton fans please feel free to email me to let me know.

United beat Scunthorpe in the League cup 5-2 away in midweek which even though it was a much changed side underlined the difference between United & Liverpool’s second sides. An away win then because United played well at Everton in their last away game & really should have won so therefore I think they will make Bolton pay for that bad away result.

Bolton will stay up easily though despite losing this game but their fans won’t be pleased that they lost 1-0 at Burnley in the League cup in mid week.

Result Prediction: Manchester United to win
Score Prediction: Bolton 1 Manchester United 3
Attendance Prediction: 25,000

Match 9: Wolves – Aston Villa: (Sunday September 26th: 2.05pm):

Wolves have lost their last two League games at Fulham & Spurs last Saturday. They therefore need a result in this game to avoid getting dragged down the table into a early battle with relegation. Wolves are unbeaten in their two league games at home this season. They beat Stoke on the opening day & then drew with Newcastle 1-1. In fact the Stoke victory on the opening day of the season is their only victory so far which puts a bit of pressure on them after their last two away defeats.

Last season both games between these sides were draws. The game at Wolves was 1-1 & the return at Villa Park was a 2-2 draw after Wolves had been 2-0 up. Still a good point for them in the end though & the sort of result that kept them up in the end.

Villa won in midweek in the League cup against Blackburn which was a much needed win for them. They have lost both their away games so far, at Newcastle 6-0 & Stoke 2-1. I can see this game ending a draw like last season as Wolves don’t tend to score many goals & Villa are not playing that well at present. I am going to stick my neck out & go for a narrow home win for Wolves.

A home win then & more away day blues for Villa.

Result Prediction: Wolves to win
Score Prediction: Wolves 1 Aston Villa 0
Attendance Prediction: 27,000

Match 10: Newcastle – Stoke City: (Sunday September 26th: 4.10pm):

Newcastle had a very good 1-0 win at Everton last Saturday which made up for the disappointment of their 2-0 home defeat against Blackpool the previous Saturday. They followed that up with a fantastic 4-3 at Chelsea in the League cup. The Good times at Newcastle appear to be coming back. They now face a Stoke side who have only won the one game so fat & only have a total of four points. Last Saturday they drew at home with a West Ham side who are already fighting against relegation. The draw was therefore not a good point & will be seen as two dropped but at least they came from behind in the 1-1 draw.

For some reason Stoke don’t appear to be firing on all cylinders at present but I still think that they will stay up as there are far worse sides than them who will go down. West Ham for example.

I think that because Stoke seem to be out of form & that Newcastle are playing on the back of two good away wins that Newcastle will win. Mind you the way the season has gone so far for predictions that means that Stoke will win. Ha.

Result Prediction: Newcastle to win
Score Prediction: Newcastle 3 Stoke 1
Attendance Prediction: 45,000

That’s all for this week everybody.

See you all on Monday for the Champions League..Good luck.

A very competitive competition in Group B was anticipated on Saturday when Greece and South Korea faced each other in 2010 World Cup sportsbook odds.

The victor will be in prime position to advance along with liked Argentina, so this was a key World Cup betting sportsbooks match in Group B.

World Cup probabilities were nearly tied on this game between Greece and South Korea. On the three-way soccer gambling line, Greece was  160, South Korea was  180 and the Draw was  200. The total was shown at two. With those probabilities, a scoreless draw or a 1-1 final appeared a definite possibility. Neither team has lots of offense so 1 goal may have been sufficient to win this game.

Greece was without defender Vangelis Moras who is injured however their defense is so good, it could not have made a difference. If anyone was to score on Saturday and impact the 2010 World Cup odds it might have been South Korea’s Ki Sung-Yong who played pretty good for Celtic in the Scottish Premier League. Theofanis Gekas, who was their leading scorer in qualifying, was likely to present the greatest menace from Greece.

The playmakers were enjoyable to see in this game. South Korea has Park Ji-Sung while Greece has Georgios Samara. The player that locates some space on Saturday may make a huge difference. Samara has already asserted Greece is playing for 2nd place in the group as he doesn’t expect Argentina to lose. Greece hasn’t played well these days with just 1 win in their last five games. They have just 3 goals in their previous 5 matches and have allowed 6.

The World Cup probabilities on this match were somewhat shocking. South Korea is actually able to score a goal occasionally, while Greece has demonstrated nothing in recent matches. Greece appears unlikely to get the outright win, so the value is undoubtedly with South Korea in this competition. A tie definitely seemed feasible in this game but South Korea had the capability to open up with a victory in 2010 World Cup betting and put Greece in serious jeopardy of not making it out of the group stage.

Greece and South Korea have met three times in the last decade with the most current meeting being a 1- South Korea win two years ago.

South Korea won the competition on Saturday, which was unfortunate for Greece, who preserved their gloomy World Cup record with this loss. The game ended exactly the same as the last 3 World Cup performances for Greece – in defeat devoid of a goal won.

Due to Lee Jung-soo and Park Ji-sung, the final score was 2-. Jung-soo got his goal in at seven minutes, establishing a poor precedent for the Greek team early on in the game. They’d started out good with full-back Vasilis Torosidis firing wide as he met skipper Georgios Karagounis’ corner with an instinctive half-volley in the 2nd minute. But after that, it was all downhill for the Greek team.

For their part, there have been a few excellent shots from the Greek squad that forced the South Korean goalie to make some impressive saves, but did Greece ever really have a shot?

The Liverpool football club season in 2009/10 was not quite the calamity that some think, but for a club with the fantastic history of Liverpool, finishing out the top 4 of the Premier League and therefore missing out on Champions League football next season is very disappointing. Throughout the season we played well on occasion but we were horribly inconsistent. The league results record is Won: 18. Lost: 11. Drew: 9. Win percentage: 47%.. On the basis of those results, Rafa Benitez’s time at Liverpool is rightly finished. The form at Anfield was fairly good (winning 13 out of 19 games), however it was the away form that really mad the season a poor one only five games won away from home. The season started badly at White Hart Lane, as we lost 2-1. Spurs deserved the victory but we were annoyed as it seemed a clear penalty was turned down late on when Vorovin was brought down in the box. A gift for Spurs fans. The rest of August was a fairly mixed one. An easy victory at home to Stoke saw an excellent debut from youngster Daniel Ayala at centre half. This win was then followed by a home loss to Aston Villa. A hard fought away win at Bolton saw Liverpool come from 2-1 behind to take the game thanks to a Stevie Gerrard volley. The month of September offered three easy games against Burnley, West Ham and Hull and Liverpool managed to win all three. But October was much harder, with two away loses at the hands of Chelsea and Sunderland. The second of these loses saw one of the freakiest goals ever. Darren Bent’s first shot deflected of an inflatable beach ball that had been thrown onto the pitch by a Liverpool fan. Those loses accompanied by two in the Champions League did not Liverpool confidence going into the Manchester United match. Fortunately for us we bounced back in style with one of our best league performances of the season. Liverpool battled hard and won 2-0. This was supposedly the result that would finally kick start our season, but the next week we were beaten 3-1 away at Fulham. November was another mixed month which started with an extremely frustrating draw on a Monday night against Birmingham City. Glen Johnson proved once again how useful he can be offensively by being a thorn in the Birmingham defence’s side all night, but it wasn’t enough. Then there was a frustrating draw to Manchester City at home. Then came one of the few highlights this season. The Merseyside Derby at Goodison park which we won 2-0 thanks to a deflected Mascherano shot and a goal from Dirk Kuyt. A mixed start to December saw us draw again at the hands of Blackburn which was followed by a poor defeat against Arsenal at Anfield. We played OK in the first half but the second got off to a bad start with a Glen Johnson own goal followed by an excellent Arshavin goal. Livepool looked totally void of ideas in a very disappointing second half performance. Over Christmas we were comprehensively beaten by bottom of the league Portsmouth in probably our worst performance of the season. But, the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 were a positive one, bringing about our best unbeaten league run of the season of seven games. The performances were showed a lot of character as we battled hard. 2010 started with a battling performance away at Stoke City after our calamitous FA Cup exploits. A lapse of concentration at the back let in Robert Huth to score a last minute equaliser. We then won the size pointer against Spurs, our fellow top four competitor. A 2-0 win over Bolton at Anfield ended the month of January before the return Merseyside Derby. This game at Anfield was full of hard tackling, however our in-form Greek centre half was sent off for a two footed tackle, though he did win the ball. Our derby specialist Dirk Kuyt did it again by getting his head on the end of a Steven Gerrard corner to set up a well deserved win in what was an excellent battling performance. After losing 1-0 at the Emirates we headed to Manchester City for another crunch game against a fellow top four rival. It wasn’t much of a spectacle but more of a tactical battle with both Managers’s unsurprisingly scared to lose and a draw duly followed. A comfortable 4-1 victory over a poor Portsmouth side came before a trip to the mighty Manchester United. With United still in the hunt for a fourth consecutive title and our ambitions for a top four finish still intact (just), all was to play for. A great start from us saw Torres left the Liverpool fans jubilant for about ten minutes when . United were awarded a controversial penalty which Wayne Rooney converted on the recoil after a fine initial stop from Reina. We never really got going in the second half and after Park Ji-Sung put Manchester in front on the hour we never looked like getting back into the game. With seven games to go we knew we couldn’t afford many more slip ups if we were to finish inside the top four. A 3-0 win over Sunderland inspired by a wonder strike from Torres and an excellent display from Steven Gerrard was unfortunately followed by an poor 1-1 draw against a very resilient Birmingham City team. Our next game was a potential Europa League final preview against Roy Hodgson’s Fulham side. This result for me finally killed our chances of a top four finish. Fulham played for the point and that is exactly what they got due to some good defending, good goalkeeping and a lack of creativity in the final third from a disappointing Liverpool side. Three Liverpool goals against a poor West Ham side was followed by a flattering away win at Turf Moore that relegated a spirited Burnley side. Our hopes of finishing in the top four were over when we lost to future champions Chelsea at our final league game of the season at Anfield. The award for goal of the season definitely went to Fernando Torres’s stunner against Sunderland at Anfield. Special mentions go to Ryan Babel for his strike against Lyon and Javier Mascherano’s against Unirea. The player of the season for me is Fernando Torres, for his goal scoring record. It feels to me like he has barely played this season yet he’s still scored 21 goals. Javier Mascherano also did well this year, here’s hoping he’s still wearing a red shirt next season. Reina has been without a doubt our most consistent player. A world class player who has kept us in games this season with some fantastic saves. A mark of a great goalkeeper is that you make the hard stuff look easy and Pepe Reina certainly does that. A great goalkeeper and a fantastic character. With Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres struggling for form and fitness, Reina has emerged as Liverpool’s leader on and off the pitch. On the pitch we’ve been too predicable and timid at times. Injuries have been a big problem, however the players that we still had useable should be able to perform a lot better. Liverpool’s woes this campaign were summed up in the season’s most farcical moment, losing to a bright red inflatable – and Sunderland, sort of – at the Stadium of Light. Next season lets hope that Benitez’s successor can do better.
