Balance Exercises to Improve your Fitness Levels

Balancing training routines are an integral part of both body and core strength fitness training exercises. In fact, balance exercises are imperative to functional training routines as they assist the body in working more efficiently. When the body works more efficiently, activities can be performed at a higher level with less risk of injury. While many people may take the ability to balance for granted, balancing is like any other activity. The more one practices balancing, the better one’s balance will become. Balance exercises do not have to be complicated and many require little or no equipment. The following are some examples of balancing exercises and types of equipment that can be used to help one reach and preserve optimal balance.

Types of Balance Exercises

Balancing exercises are quite simple in nature, and it may be surprising to learn just how easy it is to improve one’s balance. By routinely practicing the following exercises, one’s balance may be improved significantly.

Balance Exercises without Equipment

No special equipment is required for balance exercises. Begin this exercise by standing with weight distributed equally to both legs. Shift weight to the right leg, and lift the left foot off of the floor. Hold the left foot off while maintaining good form for up to 30 seconds. Lower left foot back to the ground. Repeat balance exercises by shifting weight to opposite leg and lifting opposite foot. As your balance improves, the number of repetitions may be increased. The difficulty of this exercise may be enhanced if desired. While the foot is raised off the ground, bend the leg back at the knee. After a few seconds, bring the leg back to the starting position, foot still off of the floor, and extend ahead. Hold for a few seconds. Practicing this exercise on an unstable surface will add additional difficulty to both versions of this balance exercise.

Balance Exercises Using Dumbbells

Bicep curls, shoulder presses, and side-lateral raises are employed in this balance exercise. This exercise is much like the weight shift discussed earlier except that these exercises will be completed using a dumbbell. To begin, hold the dumbbell in the hand opposite the foot being lifted from the floor. Once this tactic has been mastered, try holding the dumbbell in the same hand at the foot lifted off the floor. Try to maintain this stance for up to 30 seconds while keeping good form.

Types of Balance Training Exercise with Advanced Fitness Equipment

An ideal piece of balance equipment is the balance board. There are several types of balance boards from which to choose. These include rocker boards, rocker-roller boards, wobble boards, and sphere-and-ring boards . Each type of board offers a unique challenge, and balance boards are great for practically all ages. One specific type of balance board or more specifically Swing board that one should consider is the Syco XT Crosstrainer. The Syco XT has been touted as an extreme exercise swing.

Simple Balance Fitness Training Exercises

Most people equate being physically fit with having developed , muscular bodies sculpted through hours of weight lifting in a gym . People used to believe that brute strength would triumph over anything, but the truth is strength requires balance. Balance fitness were once the domain of rehabilitation and physical therapy assistance practitioners , but in later years balance training exercises have increased in popularity among all generations of Americans. Athletes, health enthusiasts, and even senior citizens have found balance exercises extremely beneficial as they not only can improve athletic performances but help reduce injuries, whether on the field or in the home.

Several techniques exist for balance training, but the most important thing to keep in mind is that balance training should be a progressive level exercise . Individuals should not jump straight from never having attempted balance training to trying the most complicated exercises straight away .

Primary Balance and Stability Exercises

The simplest balance training exercises to start out with require no equipment of any kind and can be done anytime, anywhere. These simple exercises can be divided into two different groups, standing exercises and walking exercises. Between these two groups there are nine simple exercises that can set anyone on the correct path to better balance.

The standing exercises include:

– Toe Stand: standing on tip toes for 10 seconds, rest for five seconds
– Tandem Stand: standing with one foot in front of the other, heel to toe
– One-legged Stand: standing on one leg while slowly lifting the other, hold for 10 seconds, rest for five seconds
– Heel Stand: raise up on heels for 10 seconds, rest for five seconds

The walking exercises include:

– Toe Walk: rise onto the balls of your feet and walk roughly 10 ft, rest, repeat 5 times
– Tandem Forward Walk: walk roughly 10 ft, placing one foot in front of the other, heel to toe
– Heel Walk: rise up on heels and walk just about 10 ft, rest, and repeat 5 times
– Cross-over Walk: walk 10 ft placing one foot in front of, and to the other side of the other foot making sure your body follows a straight line
– Tandem Backward Walk: walk 10 ft backward, placing one of your feet behind the other, heel to toe

All of these exercises are excellent exercises for beginners to work on their balance and begin to improve. The standing exercises, for example, can be increased in difficulty as balance improves by using one hand at first to assist with balance. Individuals can then advance to using no hands, and end up doing the exercises with their eyes shut.

Balance Training Exercise Equipment

Aside from these simple exercises at home, there are other exercise programs and equipment that can help an individual improve their balance. Yoga has become progressively popular for balance improvement thanks largely to its focus on improving one’s core muscle strength . Yoga’s core strength exercises require a lot of balance and the more individuals practice, the better their core strength becomes, in turn developing their balance.

There are also tools and equipment one can use, such as the Balance Board or the Syco XT . Indo Boards were developed by Hunter Joslin and designed based upon the principles of surfing. The goal is to provide a fun and challenging environment in which users can work on developing their balance. The Indo Board, simply put, is a large board balanced on a roller. Individuals increase their balance by maneuvering the board on top of the roller using natural instincts and feel to maintain their balance. The Syco XT combines the principles of snowboarding and surfing , bringing them together in a frame that allows users to use their muscles to operate the equipment. In the process of “swing boarding” individuals attain a core strength work out and work on developing their balance in the process.

Good balance development should be considered a key component to every individual’s life. Every move we make requires balance within the body and even the smallest of muscle groups pitch in to maintain our body upright as we walk, go up and down stairs, sit down or get up. Proper balance can lead to a healthier life overall and help avoid injuries that result from accidents .

Please make certain of your level of fitness before attempting a new exercise or routine.

mortgage refinance    As Surfers we may not realize we are athletes, and realizing this may be a shock. After all, how could that much fun be considered a “Sport”? I know I did not realize it for years. Surfing got into my blood and took over my whole being like an addiction when I was twelve, 1958. Yes, I am over 60, just as stoked as ever and fit enough to surf every day. Like everyone I have suffered some setbacks but I have always maintained my fitness so I could surf which has rewarded me with a healthy life and a young outlook on life.

juegos    These conditions add up to lower performance, higher risk of breaking and just a plainly ugly looking surfboard! keep this in mind as we cover the basics of a good repair job. For my repairs I use a non-toxic sun activated acrylic resin. I’m still careful not to get any on my hands and to work in very well ventilated area, outside if possible.

property management   Work in the Shade!

* Prep is the first stage so make sure the ding is dry and all loose damaged material is removed.

* Then sand the area making sure to create a surface that’s clean so the new resin can get a grip for at least one inch or about 3 centimeters. Now it’s not essential, but if you have some masking tape you can tape around the outside of the repair area to maintain the work area separate from the undamaged area.

* Your ready to apply a thin layer of resin to the repair, but make sure your in the shade and position the ding so when resin is applied it won’t run or drip out of the targeted area.

* Apply enough resin to fill the ding and cover the sanded area then move the repair to direct sunlight.

* Ok, after 3 minutes more or less the resin is fully cured and ready go! Remove the tape if you like what you see, if not repeat the process to add a buildup until your satisfied. You can use your sandpaper to blend in any excess resin to the original form of the surfboard and you’re good to go!

Fixing a surfboard isn’t that hard, I mean there are some dings I’d rather leave to a pro, but most of the time dings are small and easily fixable. For some reason people find excuses for why they can’t do it so surfboard repair skills are always in demand, plus it beats the inconvenience of giving up your surfboard for sometimes a week or more and then paying at least twenty five dollars or more for someone to do what you can do in just a few minutes and a couple bucks!
