When you decided and started to train to improve the height of your vertical, a common mistake would have been that you have pushed yourself very hard at first because you are eager to get the result you wanted instantly.  If you are training without going under suitable guidance from an expert, you risk to get hurt during the course of training.  The “no pain, no gain” cliché should be avoided at all cost.  Try not to push yourself too hard and remember the importance of proper rest in between training sessions.  You may start with least intense activities and gradually increase the intensity until you reach your targeted result.

By not taking enough rest, you are not building muscles.  opposite to what was mostly believed that when you are training, you are actually not building muscles at that time at all.   The human muscles builds when you rest and breaks when you train  .  Therefore, if your aim is to gain muscles, you will need to ensure that you do not strain yourself too much during training and make sure that take time for proper rest.
Knowing these training mistakes which some athletes or anyone involved in sports took for granted is an insight to guide you along your training for achieving greater vertical jump.  Most importantly, knowing the way your body works is an advantage in particular when you are training to improve your vertical jump.  This helps you to train more efficiently and you will see results sooner.

Stretch and Warm Up Before Doing Physical Activity

Doing any kind of new sports is a fun way to increase physical activity, increase self-confidence and build friendships. However, if you do not stretch and warm up before sports, you could also find that doing these sports leads to soreness, strains and even injuries. This is why it is so important to do some stretches and warming up before playing any sport.

The main issues that comes up with stretching and warming up is that it is not done enough or in the proper areas. Stretching should be performed just as carefully and timely as needed. You may spend up to twenty minutes just stretching, especially if you are going to be getting into a lot of strenuous exercise. It is imperative to take all the time needed because if you do not spend suficient time adequately stretching, you may injure yourself even more than if you had not stretch at all. You must never skip your stretching routine, no matter how much of a hurry you are in!

Stretching and warming up is done so that you can limber up muscles that are commonly underused or weaker. This prevents injuries and lets you loosen up all of your muscles, including the ones that are tight from disuse. Stretching also helps to compensate muscle imbalances that can hinder a game or a exercise. Finally, warm-ups and stretching will get your blood flowing, warm you up if it is cold where you will be playing, and help you to mentally prepare for the activity.

Before you start out any exercise or sporting activity, warm up first. You can do this by doing light movements to get your muscles warmed up. This can be as unsophisticated as walking or joging around the room, some jump jacks or any kind of movement that is slow and easy to do. Then, once you are warmed up, you can move on to stretching. Stretches should be done in a steady slow motion; each stretch should be held for at least five seconds – although preferably 30 counts – and repeated several times, in order to make absolutely certain that your muscles are limbered up. The type of stretches will vary by activity, but you should always make sure to target your main muscle areas: legs, arms, back, and shoulders.

Once you are warmed up and stretched, then you are ready to play! Exciting exercise is the way to a longer life and you will be able to enjoy your sport without worrying about tearing a muscle or straining yourself. And remember, cooling down and stretching after sports activity will help your muscles recover quicker and will assist you in avoiding sore, tense muscles the next day.

Some time ago there was a top world diver who produced the most outstanding dives time after time. He won Olympic and world game medals. Yet , one day he went  to do the dive and something happened – as he jumped he caught himself on the board and completely messed up the dive.

The bizarre thing was that the next time he dived , the mistake recurred !

I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced this sort of thing before , where you make an error and then it takes a while to get your performance back?

How does this happen?

Well, after he made the error in the first dive, just before he was about to dive again, he’d keep remembering the time he had hit the board.

There is an important principle – your body will follow the last clear set of instructions that your mind has given it!

So if you call back making an error in the past just before you perform the action, you’re really programming yourself to make the error again this time!

The real key is to program your mind with perfect performance – train your mind so your body will follow.

Having been coaching using NLP in sport for over a decade , and running NLP trainings in North London and internationally , I have found a variety of techniques that really help sports people get the edge in their performance.

The following steps can really help people better their performance.

1: Take a while to relax and close your eyes

2: Imagine a movie in your mind of someone performing the behaviour that you want to do perfectly – keeping running this movie seeing what they are doing in as fine detail as possible

3: Now run through the same movie again, however now imagine it is you doing the activity, but with exactly the same behaviours as the expert . Keep going through the film until you can see yourself in detail performing the behaviours excellently

4: The critical stage – re-run the movie again, but now float into the movie so you are experiencing it as if it is happening at the moment – so imagine looking through your own eyes, seeing hearing and feeling everything. Experience what it feels like and what it is like looking through your own eyes doing this amazing performance. Really experience the feelings in your muscles as you run through the performance

5: If you need to make any other improvements ,  go back to step 2 and keep running through the steps until it is just right

When you practice the performance internally , you will be strengthening the neural connections internally that help you perform the activity more easily next time .

We can all improve our performance in any area of life , and and these are some ways to get there .
