Cyprus
KTHY Cyprus Turkish Airlines is in severe financial difficulty, have a plan B if you’ve booked with them.
England
London Underground strike, 48 hours, Wednesday, 23, June, 2010, 7pm start. Again on Wednesday, 14, July, 48 hours. So far no talks are in place. Strikes likely to cause huge disruption across The Tube. London buses will be full, taxi’s hard to find. Added to this Docklands Light Railway is joining in the strike for three days. Please check how you will get to the airport. Extra traffic on the road, less parking spaces available.
British Airway’s have not resolved cabin crew issues yet. Check your long-haul ticket to see if you code-share with them.
France
A French nationwide general strike, for 24 hours, and demonstration are scheduled for Thursday, June, 24, 6 French unions joining in. Air France strike, expect flight delays out of Paris, Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. French railway strike, for 24 hours also. Look for disruptions to start the day before and day after. May effect International high speed trains.
Greece
Needs your money, go. General strike planned for Tuesday, 29, June, 2010.
Italy
Bring some cash, ATM workers had threatened strike at the beginning of summer.
Opera fans, Italian theatre has been on strike.
Italian rail strike, Friday, 25, June, Rome, 24 hour strike trains and buses.
Italian railway strike, 24 hours starting Thursday, July 8, 9pm till Thursday 9pm.
Friday, 9, July, Local public transport staff, 24 hrs. Cities set own times to strike.
Padova airport strike 12-4pm, Friday, 9, July.
Meridianafly strike, Monday, 19, July four hours 12-4pm
Rome Airport strike, (yes this is correct) Thursday, 9, September, 2010 12-4pm
Spain
RENFE, Spanish rail strike, Spanish train drives, 24 hours, starting Friday, 25, June, 2010. Time?
Nationwide general strike, set for, 29, September, 2010. Supposingly will coincide with European wide protests.
Sweden
Thousands of passengers have been effected country wide by striking Avia Express, Avitrans Nordic, Golden Air, Svenska Direktflyg, Blue 1 and SAS. Best call your airline.
All Swedish airports effected, Bromma and Ronneby taking biggest hit.
Caribbean
Troubled Liat Airlines, has been grounded by a pilots sick out. Liat dominates southern Caribbean routes.
Canada
Air Canada subsidiary Jazz Air, threaten strike. Via Rail strike, Sunday, June, 27, has potential to be devastating country wide.
U.S
Passengers here recovering from Spirit Airlines strike this week. Air Tran is the next industrial dispute to watch. Low cost Air Tran is based out of Atlanta International Airport and flies across US and the Caribbean.
Remember all strikes are subject to change, sometimes for the better.
